- [Paul] In some ways, the early '70s into the '80s, before the ADA, there was a lot of activism because we didn't have as many rights and we had to fight for 'em.

The ADA was great.

A lot of work was done by thousands of people like myself to get that passed, and I had the privilege of being invited to the White House lawn for the signing.

And I always call July 26th, 1999, my kinda July 4th as an American citizen because I felt finally that I had some equality in the system.

And the ADA is kind of the last corner piece of the comprehensive civil rights legislation from 1964.

I mean, there's been improvements to civil rights, but it didn't include people with disabilities until the '70s, '80s, and then the final passage of the ADA, so ADA was a great game changer.

My life is 100% better because of the ADA.

There is no doubt in my mind about that.
